SW Neurosurgery ODN Clinical Lead
Mr Adam Williams is a Consultant and Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He completed his general training in neurosurgery in Bristol and undertook a fellowship in his sub-specialty interest, endoscopic pituitary and skull base neurosurgery, in Oxford.
His primary clinical interests include neuromodulation therapies for patients with complex low back and lower limb pain and endoscopic pituitary surgery.
Mr Williams is co-chair of the National Neurosurgery Audit Programme, a current Director and Past President of the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) and a member of the Specialty Advisory Committee for Neurosurgery.
SW Neurosurgery ODN Clinical Lead
Mr Jeffery graduated with First Class Honours in Medicine, Surgery, and Biomedical Science from the University of Birmingham in 2007. He completed his foundation training at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine in Birmingham before embarking on a series of operational deployments as a Royal Navy Medical Officer, serving both at sea and ashore.
Mr Jeffery’s practice encompasses a broad range of cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures, with particular expertise in disorders of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and intradural spinal pathology. His specialist interests include complex hydrocephalus, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (NPH), Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH), Chiari malformation and syringomyelia.
Mr Jeffery is an active member of the International Hydrocephalus Society and the British Syringomyelia and Chiari Group.

Dr Rebecca (Becky) Maxwell is a medical leader and Emergency Medicine Consultant, currently serving as Chief Medical Officer at Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust. She has a strong track record of driving strategic transformation across complex healthcare systems, leading major programmes in medical workforce, digital transformation, clinical governance, and patient safety.
Alongside her medical leadership, she has a strong clinical and educational background, with a longstanding commitment to high‑quality Emergency Medicine training . She is a contributor to RCEM Learning, producing over 100 podcasts and contributing to educational strategy.
Becky is recognised for her collaborative leadership style, commitment to equity, whilst driving high‑quality, safe patient care.
Service Lead for the SW Initiative For Traumatic Intracranial Event Evaluation (SWIFTIEE)
Louise has recently joined the SW Neurosurgery ODN as the Service Lead for the SW Initiative For Traumatic Intracranial Event Evaluation (SWIFTIEE) - an innovative pilot that supports more effective management of minor traumatic brain injury patients and improves hospital flow.
Louise is an Occupational Therapist by background. Following completion of her BSc(Hons) Occupational Therapy degree at the University of West of England, she has worked as an Occupational Therapist for more than 15 years. In the last 5 years, she has been specialising in acute neurosurgery and neurology. Throughout her career, Louise has gained extensive knowledge of the impact of brain injuries on cognition, function and independence.
She is a member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and continues to develop her skills in the treatment of brain injury through learning and training opportunities.
SW Neurosurgery ODN Commissioning Lead
Rorie Jefferies is System Transformation Lead at NHSE Specialised Commissioning – South West. His portfolio includes the SW Radiotherapy ODN and SW Spinal Cord Injury ODN, in addition to a range of transformation projects.
Rorie is a graduate of the NHS Management Training Scheme with an MSc in Healthcare Leadership and Management. He began his career in the NHS in London, with his first role as a general manager at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Roles in commissioning and assurance followed, most recently as Head of NHS Commissioning at North Bristol NHS Trust.
Since 2021, Rorie has worked in transformation for NHS England in the South West. He is motivated by creating practical and sustainable changes that better patient outcomes and experience.
SW Neurosurgery ODN Manager
Christine joined the SW Neurosurgery ODN in May 2025, shortly after the Network was formally established.
As the ODN Manager, she oversees the Network’s day-to-day operations and is responsible for the delivery of the SW Neurosurgery ODN’s annual work programmes.
She brings a broad range of managerial, operational and leadership experience gained across primary care, secondary care, NHS commissioning, and the charitable sectors.
